Current Status

In the 1990’s the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) was formed. This Committee is responsible for setting requirements for credentialing of medical providers by hospitals and medical practices. Although these requirements have really been good for healthcare. We have found that the current system is very challenging. This is due to the difficulty of getting procedure logs for medical providers. When you visit a medical provider everything that physician does to you during the visit is called a procedure. For example: If the physician tests your hearing, performs a biopsy, or performs a screening, each one of those procedures is given a cost and is billed to the various health insurance companies or Medicare. For the commercial user, the current system takes approximately six to eight weeks to get these procedure logs due to HIPPA rules regarding removing Personally Identifiable Information. This is very time consuming. We have also found that there is no system that allows the consumer to have access to this valuable information. STATCHEQ was designed to solve this very problem by giving on-demand access to this procedure data for a nominal fee.

The Current Problem

For the average consumer, there is no transparency in healthcare when it comes to a healthcare provider’s background. Typically, the consumer has to rely on word of mouth, referral from a friend who works in the medical field or having to research the provider themselves. That requires scouring through the internet to various sites and doing numerous google searches. For the hospital, private practice, group practice and various other healthcare firms, there is another problem slowing down the provider onboarding process. Currently they have a grid lock when it comes to getting procedure logs. Procedure logs provides a list of which procedures a healthcare provider has billed to health insurance companies or Medicare. This is a vital piece of the puzzle when determining the competency of a healthcare provider. Each procedure log is required to remove the HIPPA related information from the medical record, which can be very time consuming and can take between 4 to 6 weeks to finalize.
